I am an artist and maker with a master’s degree in Fine Arts and Archaeology. My work primarily builds upon these skills, combining thread, textiles and mixed media using mainly vintage and reclaimed fabrics and hand stitching. By uniting historic repurposed materials that have passed through other, sometimes unknown hands, with the contemporary, I create new narratives.

I’m passionate about mark-making. Unlike drawing, which is surface-bound with little relief, hand stitching requires piercing through the material, giving it texture. The interaction of thread and needle, combined with the layering of textile and thread, creates its vocabulary of marks. It is not unlike archaeology, with its layered palimpsest, giving us a contemporary perspective from past artifacts.
